We have been good friends with Kristin and Aaron Wegenka for 15 years. We have witnessed them serve their community in countless ways over the last decade and a half. Kristin and Aaron worked with the youth of our community through the Life Teen movement. Kristin served as Youth Formation Director at several local parishes and used her psychology degree to help counsel troubled teens. Aaron is an amazing graphic designer who has launched countless successful brands in our community. They are always the first to offer a lending hand; babysitting friend’s children, helping move furniture, running errands, cleaning out gutters (an area where Aaron is naturally gifted), or just being there when needed. They fully know and live sacrificial love.
We celebrated the Wegenkas 10 year wedding anniversary and our 10 year wedding anniversary with two separate trips to Costa Rica. On those trips I saw even more clearly how prepared Kristin and Aaron are for the adventure of parenting. Although it was Aaron’s first time to the country he jumped in full tilt and did every outdoor activity twice. His joyful attitude and willingness to take on any challenge will allow his kids to dream big and live life to the fullest. Kristin, like a great mother, always had a hardy supply of all the essentials to share with the group. When a couple of us got sick from eating something funny, she sacrificed her vacation to make us all feel better. Kristin’s thoughtfulness and attention to detail will help her be an amazing mother and mentor.
The Wegenkas know what it means to overcome adversity. Aaron is an incredible athlete who regularly participates in triathlons, coaches competitive swimming and looks for opportunities to better himself and those around him. Kristin is a helper at heart. She is an incredible cook and care giver who we lovingly refer to as Kiki Momma because she exudes a motherly love. They have lost babies and they have lost dear friends and family members over the last decade. However, we have seen them tackle pain and difficulty with grace and patience. They have built amazing character and perspective with these losses and this will undoubtedly be an asset to any birth mother looking to place her child.
We are thrilled Kristin and Aaron are adopting a child as we cannot think of more qualified parents. Please consider joining us in giving a gift to help make this dream a reality.
