We are overjoyed to share the most precious blessing that has been unfolding in our lives — a story of grace, hope, and God's unwavering faithfulness.
Over the past year, the Lord had been slowly transforming our hearts. We had reached a place of deep contentment—a surrender born not of giving up hope, but of choosing to live fully in gratitude. Our hearts had made peace with what was, and we had truly stopped striving. The crib was packed away, and the nursery was gradually turning into a more functional space. We had prepared our hearts to re-engage with DePelchin in fostering older children when the time was right. We were ready to love whatever children the Lord might place in our lives. What we didn’t expect was that the Holy Spirit was already moving.
But in January, God's plan surprisingly interrupted our own. A trusted colleague of Aaron's approached him with a heartfelt question: Were we still open to adoption? Someone they knew was looking for adoptive parents for thier child. And after prayerful reflection and reading our blog and social media, felt compelled to reach out to us.
That initial phone call was nothing short of divine. Tears flowed freely as we, along with our brave birth mother, felt an immediate and profound connection. It was clear to all of us that this was orchestrated by God. That the Holy Spirit was working here. The Lord was so present in that conversation, there was no denying it. This was a divine appointment. It felt like the veil between heaven and earth had thinned just enough for us to see a faint picture of the path God had been planning for us.
Over the ensuing months, our bond with our birth mother deepened. We attended appointments together, shared hopes and dreams, and even recorded messages for her to play to the baby in the womb. Meeting her family, we found ourselves embraced as part of their own.
Over Easter weekend, a season so deeply tied to resurrection and new life, we finally shared the news with our immediate families and close friends. In hindsight, the timing was unmistakable. Easter always reminds us that God brings life out of death, joy out of sorrow, and hope out of waiting. We had lived in the Holy Saturday silence for a long time, but Resurrection Sunday was on the horizon.

Then, on May 12 — three weeks earlier than expected — our son, Fulton Thomas, entered the world with a spirited cry. Just a day after Mother's Day, a holiday that had always been bittersweet, we found ourselves rushing to Austin, heart racing, to meet our son and leap into parenthood.

Fulton's early arrival has meant an unexpected stay in the NICU as his underdeveloped lungs adjusted to life outside the womb. There were moments of fear, but they soon gave way to patience and trust. We knew he was strong, and with time, he proved that beyond our expectations, and we knew he would thrive.
Our birth mother's courage and selflessness have left an indelible mark on our hearts. Her decision to entrust us with Fulton is a profound act of love — one that words can scarcely capture. Through her, we've been reminded of God's boundless love, a love that blesses us not because of our merit, but because of His grace. Words will never capture the depth of our gratitude to our son’s birth mother. Her sacrifice — the complete gift of herself — is a mirror of Christ’s own love: freely given, deeply costly, and life-giving. She is one of the bravest souls we have ever known. Through her witness, my heart has been taught again how loved I am by the Father. Not because of anything I’ve done to earn it — but simply because He delights in loving us. Her courage rekindled my hope, a hope I had quietly forgotten. She reminded me that God is still writing beautiful stories.

And now, we prepare to bring Fulton Thomas — our little baby bear — home. He is already deeply loved, not just by us, but by all who have prayed, waited, and hoped alongside us. We are eager to introduce him to the beauty of our faith, to surround him with love, and to raise him in the truth that he is wonderfully made, intentionally chosen, and loved beyond measure.
In the coming weeks, there are some remaining legal items, as all the signed paperwork goes through the courts and gets finalized. Please keep that in your prayers.
Thank you for walking with us. Please continue to pray for our family — especially for our sweet birth mother — that we may all continue to live in the grace of this gift. Please also pray for the birth father, as he has some intentions and needs of his own.

May we all learn to trust a little more deeply, surrender a little more fully, and receive the good gifts of God with open hands.
With hearts full of gratitude,
Aaron & Kristin

I am adding these links here, only because we have already had family and friends ask, and this just seems like the easiest place to put them. ;)
