Part of the Family

Paul and I have known Kristin and Aaron for almost eleven years now. Well, Paul has actually know them longer through a childhood parish with Kristin and life guarding with Aaron. When we first moved to Houston after college, we knew we wanted to find a church to call our own. As anyone in a new situation knows, seeking out a friend is not always an easy task, but Kristin was that shining soul for us. As the youth minister at the parish, she invited us to join the Core Team and help with all things high school youth, and we dove in headfirst. To witness Kristin and Aaron with the teens was such a joy and privilege.

Kristin has a way of being able to listen attentively to anything and everything you might be going through. She was a mother figure to many of the teens and Aaron was right by her side through it all. He was a mentor for so many young men and women and was often the person the young adults went to when they needed to confide in someone. They both have a kindness and a warmth about them that just seems to make the world just a little bit better.

As time went on, Paul and I became remarkably close to Kristin and Aaron. They came to every monumental event in our lives (baptisms, birthdays, parties, etc.). They were there the night we gave birth to our first baby girl, and even threw us a party as we drove to the hospital (our first child was three weeks early). They were there for us when we had our second child, who had a brief two week stay in the NICU, and they were there at our house helping us comb through names for our third daughter the night I went into labor. We are grateful for their love, generosity, and friendship and we are blessed to call them friends.

We are extremely excited for them to take this next step in their lives and to be amazing parents. Any child blessed to be adopted by the Wegenkas will receive the best hugs, snuggles, wonderful meals (Kristin’s wagookies are the most delicious chocolate chip cookies in the world), and truly unconditional love any child would be lucky to have. This baby will be overwhelmingly loved every single day of their life.

Kristin and Aaron, we cannot wait to watch you become the best parents we know you to be. We love you and cannot wait to walk with you through this new journey. Please join us in supporting their journey to expanding the family. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-aaron-and-kristin-adopt
